The firm's owner is David
M. Hembree, QPA, ERPA, who holds a Qualified Pension Administrator
professional designation bestowed by the American Society of Pension
Professionals and Actuaries ("ASPPA").
This classification means that your pension consultant is a member
of ASPPA, a group of approximately 6,000 individuals dedicated to
the preservation and enhancement of our nation's private pension
system. As an Enrolled Retirement Plan Agent, Mr.
Hembree is enrolled to represent taxpayers before the Internal Revenue
Service with regard to retirement plan matters involving Employee Plans Determination
Letters (such as IRS
Forms 5300, 5307, or 5310); and the Employee Plans Compliance Resolution
System ("EPCRS"), including the IRS
Self-Correction Program ("SCP") and IRS
Voluntary Correction Program ("VCP").
Mr. Hembree created Hembree
TPA, Inc. in 2005, after serving 11 years as a shareholder,
officer, and director of ERISA compliance at a firm he co-founded
in Phoenix, AZ in 1994. Prior to that, he was employed by
an Arizona based pension administration company from 1992 - 1994.
There, he specialized in plan document restatements before
the IRS in order to secure compliance for clients under the Tax
Reform Act of 1986. During this time, he also garnered valuable
experience in the fields of defined contribution plan administration
and client service.
Mr. Hembree now oversees
all annual administration duties: Form 5500 preparation for retirement
and welfare benefit plans; plan document design, installation, and
restatement; trust accounting and valuations; participant vested
benefit calculations and distribution compliance; plan terminations;
and client representation before the IRS
and U.S. DOL.
The QPA appointment
and the ERPA credential demonstrate that clients are contracting
a serious professional, who has passed a rigorous system of study
and examinations, and who participates in ongoing continuing education
requirements specific to the tasks for his scope of employment.
In 1990, Mr. Hembree earned
a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree from the
University of Arizona, where he majored in Personnel Management.
Since 1992, he has exclusively devoted his career to pension plan
administration and consulting.
David enjoys time with
his family, including his wife and twin sons, whom someday he hopes
to teach how to golf and play guitar.
